The future of a province depends on education and training of its youth to ensure the continuity of what has been accomplished. This is especially true in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The DRC covers a surface area of more than 900,000 square miles (2,345,000 square kilometers) and has more than 75.5 million people. However, the median age (regardless of gender) is just 17 years old. In 2010 there was a maternal mortality rate of 540 for every 1000 live births and an infant mortality rate of 75 for every 1000 live births. Sadly, there are only 11 physicians for every 1000 people in the DRC and only 0.8 hospital beds for every 1000 people.
Those children that survive birth face difficult challenges. In 2011 53.8 percent of the population of the DRC lived without clean water. Most children leave school by age 8. In 2010 approximately 42 percent of the children in the DRC were laborers. The literacy rate for the entire population is only 66%.
The focus of Bondo USA is the Grand Kasai of the DRC, home to nearly 12 million people. The objective of Bondo is to intervene in the lives of children in the Grand Kasai to show the love of God, to provide for materials needs, to educate the children in self-sufficiency, and to inspire the children to solidarity – to take actions for others. At the same time the goal of Bondo USA is to bridge resources from the West (specifically the United States) to the Grand Kasai region in order to educate American citizens on the plight of the children in the DRC.
Bondo USA plans to raise funds and, subject to the discretion and control of the Bondo USA board of directors, distribute those funds to organizations working in Grand Kasai to fund worthwhile projects. Bondo USA anticipates a majority of its fundraising will be to a registered NGO in the DRC named Bondo. Bondo has already been doing good work in the Grand Kasai.
For example, Bondo constructed benches, tables and chairs for teachers in schools in the city of Kananga. This was received with great joy and relief by students who were very surprised by this action generosity. The difference made by this gesture was striking. Where it had been difficult to take notes on their lessons, the students now had a reason to smile. Bondo USA looks to continue this in schools across the entire city of Kananga.
Other social actions already taken by Bondo in Grand Kasai :
Bondo USA will provide support as it identifies specific needs and projects such as these in Grand Kasai.
In addition, recognizing the need of new immigrants to America from Central Africa, Bondo USA intends to help new immigrants integrate into American society by providing social and educational programs and by providing cultural activities available to both African immigrants as well as interested American citizens. The goal of this program is building of community for new immigrants and awareness for American citizens of the needs of the immigrant and also the immigrant’s native land.
“The child is becoming an adult. A child is a child. It is neither white nor yellow. It is not black. It is color of a child. So give him. Give without counting.”
“DO IT”
The Message of Bondo USA:
The message and objective of Bondo USA is to make the people of America know the region of Central Africa especially the Democratic Republic of Congo so they can do more activities in The Grand Kasai, Congo. They are your clone because they were all created the same way as you by our God, we inform you that they are suffering. The most badly wounded by this suffering are the children. They don’t have the means to defend themselves, or speak because they are merely children. They ask that you help them together with them, they ask that you put more attention on them… Save the people in danger, the children.
Matthew 25:35 “I was a stranger and you welcomed me,”
Proverbs 3 Loving Your Neighbor 3:27-28 “Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, When it is in the power of your hand to do so. Do not say to your neighbor ‘Go and come back, And tomorrow and I will give it’ When you have it with you”
